Almost 1,400 Reading fans made the mammoth trip to Cumbria to face Carlisle United, rewarded with a 3-1 victory over the bottom club.
A first trip to Brunton Park since 1982, the Royals returned to Berkshire in a buoyant mood with three points after goals from Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs.
