Reading boss Ruben Selles has confirmed that experienced duo Sam Hutchinson and Harlee Dean are both available despite neither featuring for over three months.

The veteran pair, who both have over 350 career appearances predominantly at Championship level, were both regular starters at the beginning of the campaign.

However, neither have appeared in the league since November's 3-2 defeat at Shrewsbury Town- where the Royals conceded twice in stoppage time to lose despite leading by two goals.

Dean, who arrived only in the summer, has at least featured in the FA Cup and made the bench on New Year's Day.

Raising question marks among the fanbase on their whereabouts and lack of game time, Selles has confirmed that both are available for selection.

"I don’t have a problem with players’ age, they can be young players or experienced players if they do what we think, train properly and work for the collective- and that has been the case. Harlee has had an injury for three weeks, so he is in the final stages. That is why before the game he was doing some extra training. He is fully available now.

"Sam, we just think that Michael Craig, Charlie Savage or Ben Elliott can occupy that position as a six and when we make the configuration of the squad, we prefer to bring players in other positions."

11 League One matches remain, with the club currently three points clear of the relegation zone following a two-point deduction for HMRC-related issues.
