Reading defender Tom McIntyre is on the verge of completing a switch to League One leaders Portsmouth for just £75,000, the Reading Chronicle understand.
The 25-year-old rose through the youth system and made over 100 appearances for his boyhood club.
Finding game time hard to come by this season, the versatile defender was keen on a move away.
He will follow fellow defenders Nelson Abbey, Nesta Guinness-Walker and Tom Holmes out of the door this month- although Holmes has returned on loan.
The Reading Chronicle understand that the fee arranged was for under £80,000, and agreed upon before alerting manager Ruben Selles or Director of Football Mark Bowen.
This comes after club officials explicitly asked to keep players and avoid a 'fire sale', with fears among staff that other key stars may follow suit.
The Royals are three points away from safety in the League One relegation zone.
