Former Reading favourite John Salako has urged fans to 'keep the faith' and 'fight' as off-field issues continue to dominate talk in Berkshire.

Under the stewardship of Chinese businessman Dai Yongge, the club have fallen from the brink of the Premier League to the brink of League Two, with a host of off-field problems.

Overnight stays have been cut, players are fed microwave meals and staff have lost their jobs as Yongge continues with negligent ownership.

Keen to sell the club, director Nigel Howe has been tasked with finding a buyer- the sooner, the better.

Salako, best known for his nine years with Crystal Palace, played over 100 times for the Royals in the early 2000s.

He was in attendance at the SCL Stadium on Tuesday night as Ruben Selles' side beat promotion-chasing Derby County.

Pictured with fellow legends Dave Kitson and Mark McGhee, Salako shared supporters' concerns for the future.

However, he remained defiant.

"We had great times," he told fans. "Don’t lose faith. Stay positive. So many of us still love this club and will fight for it."
