Reading favourite Josh Laurent has spoken out on the demise of his former football club, calling out for the EFL to 'save them.'
Laurent became a popular figure with supporters during his two years at the club, winning Player of the Season 2021.
Now at Stoke City, he is still keeping up to date with on-goings at Reading, with supporters getting yesterday's match with Port Vale abandoned in protest against owner Dai Yongge.
This is horrible to see🥺. The fans, staff and players deserve more than this. I read things on here every week that shouldn’t happen to any club. These good people are seeing their club die in front their eyes and it’s long overdue that the @EFL get involved and save the club https://t.co/9Ps411SOmK

Taking to social media upon hearing the news, Laurent said: "This is horrible to see. The fans, staff and players deserve more than this. I read things on here every week that shouldn’t happen to any club. These good people are seeing their club die in front their eyes and it’s long overdue that the EFL get involved and save the club."
The very existence of the club is under threat, with yet more punishments to come in the near-future.
It is unknown what the club will be hit with following yesterday's abandoment.
