Reading's former record-signing, Leroy Lita, has joined the 21st club of his career after leaving Nuneaton Borough aged 39.

Arriving from Bristol City in 2005, the striker was the club's first-ever £1m player.

A key member of the 2005/06 Championship-winning team, the former England Under-21 international scored 32 goals in 100 appearances.

Departing in 2009, Lita remained in the Football League until 2016 and has since been playing in the non-league pyramid.

After enjoying two spells with Nuneaton Borough, his time came to an end last week following a change of management.

Upon leaving, the former club captain said: “Unfortunately, my time at NBFC has come to an end. It’s been a pleasure working with the gaffer, Andy, Jamie, Acca, Hannah and the boys. The gaffer was the main reason for me re-signing and I have so much respect for the work I’ve seen him do over the years for the club. Best of luck to the fans and everyone at the club.”

Approaching his 40th birthday, Lita has Southern League Premier Division Central rivals Coalville Town.
