Derby County are chasing Reading midfielder Charlie Savage, according to MailSport.

The 20-year-old signed a four-year contract over the summer and has scored four goals, but the youngster has found game-time hard to come by in recent weeks.

Without a start since November, the Wales international played just a combined 25 minutes over the four festive fixtures- in which the Royals remained unbeaten and moved out of the relegation zone.

According to MailSport, Derby County- chasing promotion to the Championship- have seen an initial approach 'knocked back.'

The Reading Chronicle understand that the Rams are one of at least three EFL clubs chasing the former Manchester United Academy graduate.

Charlie's father, Robbie Savage, spent four years with the Rams and played over 130 times for the club at the end of his career.

Boss Ruben Selles has said that he is willing to fight to keep his squad together until the end of the season, but the club in financial crisis may not be in a position to hold off interest for their star players.
