Reading have 'registered interest' in Charlton Athletic defender Terell Thomas, according to reports.
The defender rejoined the Addicks last year and has played 38 times in one-and-a-half seasons.
Out of contract in the summer, the 28-year-old has played 20 times this campaign.
A former Royal, the former AFC Wimbledon centre-back played just twice under Paul Ince in the Championship before being released.
Reading, having released Ovie Ejaria, have space in the matchday squad but cannot pay fees for players until 2025.
Boss Ruben Selles is not expecting to be able to make additions in the window due to the current financial crisis at the club, with redundancies recently being made.
