Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson has labelled tonight's match with Reading 'a good occasion.'

Marking the first meeting between the two teams since a 2-2 draw way back in 1982, it will be the Cumbrian's first-ever trip to the SCL Stadium, with almost 500 tickets sold for the 661-mile round-trip.

Sitting just five points ahead of the Royals in the relegation battle, Reading will head into the game with a spring in their step after picking up their first away win for 378 days at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Drawing 1-1 with Charlton Athletic on Saturday, the first match under new American ownership, all eyes are on Berkshire this evening.

The former England Under-20s boss said: “It’s a really good stadium to go to, and a good occasion.

“They’re a big football club, Reading. Whatever’s gone on – they’ve obviously caused themselves some problems – we’ve got to forget about that and go and make sure we do our jobs properly.

“We’ve got to be ready for it.”
