Reading's 4-1 FA Youth Cup win over Oxford City made it a successful 48 hours for Michael Gilkes' Academy set-up.

Shay Spencer, Kiyan Coke Miles Smith, Emmanuel Osho, Joseph Barough all found the target at the National League side's home- making it a comfortable evening for the Under-18s.

Championship and Premier League sides enter at round three, while there is still some way to go before they can think about matching Reading's best season in the prestigious competition, reaching the 2015 semi-final.

Mikele Leigertwood's team had a tough act to follow following Noel Hunt's Under-23s hitting Blackburn Rovers for seven on Monday in Premier League 2.

Charlie Wellens, Adrian Akande, Caylan Vickers and Jayden Wareham all found the net in the first half, while Jeriel Dorsett, Matty Carson, and a second for Wellens made sure of the points to lift the Category One side up to fourth in the table.

One of only two League One sides with Category One academies, many who featured against Rovers have already become regulars in Ruben Selles' first-team.
