Reading are to find out their FA Cup first-round proper opponents this afternoon.

Expected to take place at approximately 2.30 pm on ITV, all League One and League Two sides join the remaining non-league outfits for the world's oldest cup competition.

This is the first time that the Royals have been required to enter the first round since 2001, with Championship and Premier League sides joining at round three.

Reading are to be ball 37 in the draw.

Alan Pardew's side were knocked out by York City in round two during the 2001/02 season, on route to winning promotion from the third tier.

Ties are scheduled to take place on the weekend of November 3.

Last season Paul Ince's side lost 3-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford in round three, showcased live on ITV.

Reading, founded the same year as the first ever FA Cup back in 1871, have twice reached the semi-final, most recently in 2015.
