Reading youngster Nelson Abbey made his England Under-20 debut in a 2-0 defeat to Romania on Thursday.
The 20-year-old has been at the club since the age of eight and has become a regular under Ruben Selles, featuring more than 10 times this season and even wearing the captain's armband in the absence of Andy Yiadom.
Called up in the place of the injured Reuell Walters, Abbey played the final 30 minutes in Bucharest.
He will remain with the squad for their match on Tuesday against Portugal in Milton Keynes.
