Reading fans have come together in their hundreds to help raise funds for future protests against owner Dai Yongge, raising almost £4,000 in under 48 hours.

Group 'Sell Before We Dai' was formed over the summer and have led the charge against Yongge by organising protests and mass media coverage as the football club edges toward the precipice.

Run by volunteers and mainly paid for out of their own pocket, the group have reached out to supporters to assist with future funding..

A statement read:"The campaign has been live for almost 4 months now and we've achieved so much… National media attention on our plight, cross-party political support and engagement from you, the fans.

"So far the campaign has been funded with a small start-up fund from Supporters' Trust at Reading (STAR) alongside the wider Sell Before We Dai (SBWD) campaign team using their own money.

"As you can imagine, this isn't a viable long-term solution. We need to ensure we can carry on with the campaign until Dai Yongge has sold and to do that, we need donations to help our cause."

Since going live on Monday evening, £3,485 has been raised and 156 supporters have contributed at the time of writing- smashing their original target of £1,000.

All funds not used by the group will be reinvested in the Reading Community Trust, ensuring the club always benefits from the money raised.
