Reading have missed out on midfielder Tino Anjorin, with Portsmouth confirming the signing of the Chelsea youngster on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old had been a 'long-term target' but has opted for Fratton Park.

Blues boss John Mousinho said: “I think everyone knows that this is something that’s been rumbling on for a while.

“So we’re delighted that we’ve managed to get it over the line and secure Tino’s signature – we’re excited to see what he’s going to bring.

“We’ve got a player with Premier League capability, who’s excellent on the ball and has real athletic qualities.

Reading are still active in the market, hoping for at least two additions before tomorrow's 11 pm deadline.

A forward is high on the list of priorities, with Andy Carroll set for a move abroad to end his second spell in Berkshire.

Question marks remain over the futures of Dean Bouzanis, Tom Holmes and Nesta Guinness-Walker as all three have reportedly been made available by manager Ruben Selles.
