Rumoured Reading target, Mark Harris, has signed a long-term contract with rivals Oxford United.

The Royals, yet to make a summer signing, are unable to confirm transfer moves until they finish paying off a tax bill to HMRC.

Set a court date of August 9, the club are in the process of paying the rest off and hope to sort the issue imminently.

This will free the club up to permanently appoint manager Ruben Selles and push signings over the line.

Taking three on a pre-season trip to Spain, including Cambridge United favourite Harvey Knibbs, Harris and Clare are the latest names linked with a move to Berkshire.

According to Darren Witcoop of the Sunday Mirror, the club are trying to convince the players to be patient and wait for the bill to be paid.

Harris was one such player, but the 24-year-old has confirmed his move to the Kassam Stadium this afternoon.

Another was Sean Clare, who has since gone on to sign for Wigan Athletic on a three-year deal.
