Reading have been issued a winding up petition by HMRC, the latest in a long line of financial issues in Berkshire this summer.

Already on the EFL Embargo Service for paying wages late in three separate months last season- in which the club have until Thursday to respond- HMRC reporting was an issue added over a week ago.

Facing the prospect of another season unable to spend money on players, and with only 13 registered first-team players on the books, supporters are getting irate and edgy.

Over 3,000 have signed up to the 'Sell Before We Dai' movement, which aims to protest until owner Mr Dai Yongge sells up.

As confirmed by football finance expert Kieran Maguire, scarce information is currently available on the courts and tribunals website beyond the date in which the case was opened: June 20, 2023.

The club have been approached for comment.
