Reading's first-team players return to pre-season training TODAY ahead of the 2023/24 League One campaign.

Noel Hunt's Under-21s returned to Bearwood last week, with no doubt plenty expecting minute's next season with a thin first-team squad.

Still without a manager, 13 players are officially signed on as training commences.

However, both Amadou Mbengue and Junior Hoilett have deals which expire at the end of the month and both look unlikely to commit their futures in Berkshire.

It is also looking highly likely that Tom Ince will play his football elsewhere ahead of next season.

Spending a fortnight on home turf, the Royals will fly out to Alicante in July for a warm-weather spell and face AFC Wimbledon in a friendly.

The third-tier season kicks off on Saturday, August 5 at home to Peterborough United.
