Striker Yakou Meite has confirmed that he will depart Reading this summer after six full seasons with the club.

The 27-year-old, who scored 47 goals in 165 appearances for the Royals, took to Twitter to confirm the news on June 21 as he and the club ‘failed to reach an agreement’.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward will now be a free agent come June 30.

He said: “I am sad to announce that after six years with Reading FC, I will be leaving after failing to reach an agreement with the club.

“I came here as a boy, and I leave as a man.

“I cannot express how grateful I am for everything you guys have done for me in my career.

“Every single one of you helped me to be the man I have become.

“I’ve got so many memories, both on and off the pitch that I will never forget.

“I want to thank every coach and all the staff I have been working under.

“To all the people behind the scenes working hard for this beautiful club.

“To every single fan who supported us, a personal thank you for all your love and efforts.

“It is because of you that I will always be s Reading fan and I am 100 per cent sure that Reading will be back.”

He scored four goals in 27 matches last season.
