Three former Reading stars have been listed among hundreds of footballers released by Premier League clubs.

Always a nerve-wracking time for footballers as they look for their next move, 167 players have been released by the 20 top-flight clubs.

Among them include former Royals: Ryan Bertrand, Tariqe Fosu and Jack Stacey.

Bertrand spent the 2008/09 season on loan from Chelsea and came third in the Player of the Season vote after becoming popular with supporters.

Reading Chronicle:

Returning to parent club Chelsea, he played in their successful 2012 Champions League final before spending almost a decade at Southampton.

Moving to Leicester City last season, the veteran has been released by the Foxes after relegation to the Championship.

Fosu spent 13 years in the ranks with Reading, coming up through the Academy and making his debut in 2015.

It was to be his only first-team appearance for the club but impressive spells with Charlton Athletic and Oxford United saw him picked up by the Bees in 2020.

Reading Chronicle:

Making 63 appearances in three seasons, he spent this season as a regular on loan with both Stoke City and Rotherham United.

Still only 27, the winger will not be short of offers.

Former teammate and youth product, Jack Stacey, has already sorted himself a new club after his release from Bournemouth.

Reading Chronicle:

The 27-year-old made over a century of starts for the Cherries but has now dropped into the Championship and signed a three-year deal with Norwich City.

Breaking through alongside Fosu after arriving at the club as a child in 2004, the winger-turned-full-back made six first-team appearances for the club.
