Leeds United have hired former Reading Director of Football, Nick Hammond, on a short-term basis.

Hammond, who ended his playing career with the Royals in 2000, moved into backroom roles with the Academy almost immediately.

He made history in 2003, becoming the club's first Director of Football.

Alongside Sir John Madejski and Nigel Howe, Hammond was an instrumental cog for over a decade as the club were twice promoted to the Premier League.

Ending his 20-year association with the club in 2016, the 55-year-old moved to West Brom as Technical Director.

Moving around in the seven years since, Hammond has worked with giants Celtic and Newcastle United on a consultancy basis.

Signing a three-month deal at Elland Road, Hammond has been appointed interim football advisor and will assist with work in the summer transfer window.

The Whites aim to have a permanent appointment by October as they face another season in the second tier after their three-year Premier League stint came to an end in May.
