Portsmouth have made a busy start to the transfer window, picking up three players on the day the window opens.

Keeper Will Norris joined from Burnley and Bournemouth forward Christian Saydee arrived, while Pompey also brought in former Royal Conor Shaughnessy from Burton Albion.

The 26-year-old spent four years as a regular for the Under-18s and Under-21s but moved on without making a first-team debut.

Moving to Leeds United, the central defender made 15 appearances but has struggled to nail down a starting spot barring a 43-game season for Burton in 2021/22.

Joining Pompey after his deal at the Pirelli Stadium expired, the Republic of Ireland youth international has signed a two-year contract at Fratton Park under former Brewer John Mousinho.

“Conor is a very versatile player and has appeared in a number of positions for Burton over the past couple of years," the young manager said.

“He’s just as comfortable operating in the middle of the park than he is at the back, but we’ve brought him in because of his quality.

“Athletic and very comfortable on the ball, his challenge is to nail down a place in the side next season."
