Former Reading defender Naby Sarr has confirmed his departure to Qatar outfit Almarkhiya, despite no official word from the club.

The All-Stars league club announced Sarr's arrival on Sunday night, but it has been silence from the Royals end regarding any move.

Playing 25 times in his sole single in Berkshire, the former Huddersfield Town centre-back spent almost a month waiting for the EFL to confirm his arrival last summer.

Scoring on his debut at Millwall, the 29-year-old struggled with injuries early on but found his rhythmn after the World Cup break.

Taking to Instagram, he said: "Thank you everyone at Reading FC for welcoming me and for everything. Sorry that it didn’t work the way we wanted to but I would like to wish the club all the very best for the futur and I have no doubt that success will be back for the Royals."

He joins the likes of Lucas Joao and Shane Long out of the door, while there has been no news on the futures of Amadou Mbengue, Yakou Meite or Junior Hoilett.
