Summer Reading trialist Jodi Jones has been told he will be leaving Oxford United next month, despite playing his part in helping Notts County to a showpiece play-off final.

Among the eight trialists during pre-season training at St George's Park, the former Coventry City winger was not picked up by Paul Ince's Royals.

Joining the League One U's instead, he struggled for minutes before being loaned to National League giants Notts County.

Picking up a staggering 107 points, the Magpies were forced to make do with a play-off finish.

Securing a stunning late comeback win over Boreham Wood on Sunday, with Jones netting a 120th-minute winner, Notts will meet Midlands neighbours Chesterfield in the Wembley final later this month.

However, the winger has since been told that he is surplus to requirements at the Kassam Stadium, joining veteran striker Matt Taylor on the released list.

The 25-year-old had a promising time at the CBS Stadium but suffered with long-term injuries as Mark Robins took the Sky Blues from League Two to the brink of the Premier League.
