10-man Reading almost held on against in-form Luton Town, eventually drawing 1-1.

Here are the player ratings.

Joe Lumley, 6: A good performance from the keeper, who had plenty to do after going a man down. Could have done better for the equaliser, but the goal was coming after constant pressure. Splits opinion with his game-management skills.

Andy Yiadom, 6: Was everywhere. Constantly up and down the pitch, the captain won plenty of fouls to ease pressure and loved to cut in and drive at Luton.

Tom Holmes, 6: A mammoth performance in the final half hour to ensure the Royals took something out of the game. Won his headers and plenty of tackles, although he picked up a needless yellow card.

Naby Sarr, 7: A behemoth, the centre-back was in imperious form. From the goal-saving block in the first half to an almost faultless second half, we are starting to see the best of the summer signing.

Nesta Guinness-Walker, 6: One of his best matches from a defensive perspective, the youngster is improving week-on-week.

Femi Azeez, 7: Direct and speedy, he was a constant outball for Reading when under pressure. Crossing and set-pieces a vast improvement from Saturday.

Jeff Hendrick, 6: Strangely grew into the game as the Royals dropped to 10 men, the midfielder dictated much of Reading's play in the closing stages as his experience proved vital.

Cesare Casadei, 6: Improved drastically after the break, improving on a disappointing first-half showing. Some clever touches and turns, still plenty for the teenager to learn.

Tyrese Fornah, 5: A disappointing showing from the youngster, but he is being made to play out of position. His crossing and pace to beat a player is not suited to playing out wide, but his enthusiasm was there for all to see.

Lucas Joao, 6: Worked harder than he;s worked for a long time, still never in a shooting position. Need to find a way to get the clinical finisher within range of the goal.

Andy Carroll, 6: From hero to villian, a crazy 10 minute spell after the break has seriously hampered the side's chances of staying in the league with his suspension.

Substitutes

Mamadi Camara, 6: An excellent cameo full of energy and clever play. Needs to start at Coventry on Saturday.

Kelvin Abrefa, 6: Had little to do but fresh legs helped get over the line.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, 6: Held the ball up well and linked up nicely with the fellow subs to make an impact on the game in the closing stages.
