Reading boss Noel Hunt labelled champions elect Burnley the 'Man City of the Championship' ahead of their meeting on Saturday.

With five matches to play, the Clarets can reach 108 points and steal the Royals' record for points accumulated in a season, which has stood since 2006.

Snatching a controversial 2-1 win at Turf Moor, with the referee denying Paul Ince's men a stonewall penalty before their stoppage time winner, Vincent Kompany has lead the side straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Discussing his Burnley counterpart, Hunt said: "He took my head off one time at City. He caught me with a high foot. I still have the scar. He was a fantastic player and what he has done now, they’re the Man City of the Championship. How they play, it’s so impressive. It’s eye-catching and you’re drawn to watching how they play and the movement. But this is the gig. When Mark told me that I was taking the job I didn’t think twice about it. Let’s go, we’ve got Burnley Saturday."

Reading Chronicle:

Already promoted, the question was put the Hunt as to whether the visitors could take their foot off of the gas?

The answer was emphatic.

"I don’t think so- watching them play last week and the manager speak. They’ve got a vast squad, players that can come on and hurt you and virtually like-for-like. With that in mind, I don’t expect any rest up from Burnley. I’m sure he’s well aware that he’ll want that ‘C’ as fast as possible and then it’ll be the record, so I don’t see that letting up. I’m not expecting an easy ride."
