Former Reading forward Nick Blackman has called for more past player involvement as a way to 'restore identity.'

The Barbados international spent three years with the club, famously lighting up the Championship for half a season in 2015/16 in which he scored 13 goals.

Having since gone on to play for Derby County, as well as in Spain and Israel, the 33-year-old took to social media to have his say on the ongoings in Berkshire after the news of Paul Ince's sacking.

Alluding to fan favourites Jem Karacan and Dave Kitson, Blackman believes former players being involved will help restore an 'identity.'

"How’s it got to this Reading FC. Stability on & off the pitch were fundamental in the clubs previous success. Players who were integral in those title winning teams eg Kitson/Karacan should be integrated into prominent roles within the club. Identity needs to be restored."

This has been seen with the appointment of Noel Hunt as interim manager until the end of the season, while the likes of Mikele Leigertwood and Michael Gilkes remain in prominent backroom roles.
