Reading boss Paul Ince has called Thursday 'D-Day' over a potential points deduction.

Currently sat 17th and nine points clear of the relegation zone, the Reading Chronicle understands that a suspended six-point deduction is likely to be applied this week for past financial misdemeanours.

It will leave Ince's side 21st and just three points clear of the relegation zone with eight matches remaining.

Despite no concrete news from the EFL, reports in the media suggest that Thursday is the deadline for decisions to be made regarding potential deductions.

The former England captain referred to this in his post-match press conference after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull City.

"There’s been no guarantee that it’s coming, but I’ve got a feeling it’s coming because of the way the EFL are going about everybody else," he said. "I think the cut-off mark is Thursday, so Thursday will be D-Day for a lot of clubs."

Rumours have been circulating that the likes of Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City and Sheffield United are potentially due points deductions this season.
