Reading's latest financial figures show that less than 9,000 supporters brought season tickets in 2021/22, the lowest for more than a decade.

Crowds have averaged just over 12,000 since the return from Covid-19 last season, decreasing year-on-year for over five years.

A mixture of aspects such as poor Championship finishes, financial issues and the Covid-19 pandemic will no doubt have impacted crowd levels in recent seasons.

Although figures were not officially logged during Sir John Madejski's era, he did comment that "in excess of 14,000 signed up for our 2013/14 Sky Bet Championship campaign"- the first season back in the second tier after a season in the Premier League.

Reading Chronicle:

Steadily falling ever since, 10,052 were signed up in 2019.

For the first time in over a decade this figure fell into four digits in 2020- the year affected by the pandemic- to 9,561.

This fell even further last season, with just 8,346 committing to a full season ticket in the first full season admitting fans post-pandemic.

The total average was reportedly over 14,000.
