Reading conceded another late strike to lose 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers, despite a spirited display.

Here are the player ratings.

Joe Lumley, 6: A mixed bag for Lumley, who made some terrific saves to keep his side in the game- but his distribution left a little to be desired throughout. Potentially could have done better for the first goal too.

Amadou Mbengue, 6: Grew into the game after a shaky start. Very good at intercepting switches of play. Struggled against Ben Brereton Diaz.

Tom Holmes, 6: His passing was not the best throughout, particularly in the air during difficult conditions, but overall defended solidly enough. Threw his body on the line.

Naby Sarr, 6: Similar to Holmes, was constantly prepared to throw his body on the line and made some good tackles. Attempted less risky passes.

Tom McIntyre, 6: Struggled to get to grips with Sorba Thomas for most of the evening and had a few nervy moments in the second half but defended well in general.

Mamadou Loum, 5: Played well in general play but let the club down with his headbutt late in the game to earn a straight red card. Needless and left his teammates with an impossible task.

Jeff Hendrick, 6: Quiet game for the Irishman, who kept things ticking over but did not impact on the game.

Cesare Casadei, 7: Very impressive performance from the Chelsea youngster. Showed no fear and was prepared to stick a boot in. Took his goal very well.

Tom Ince, 5: An off-the-boil evening for Ince. It seemed like everything he tried to do failed, including a straightforward pass to Tom McIntyre in the second half. Still one of the strongest runners though.

Lucas Joao, 6: Grew into the game. The Angolan never got a chance to unleash a shot but linked up well with those around him.

Shane Long, 6: Always on his toes, the 36-year-old saw a terrific header cleared off the line. Whipped in some dangerous crosses too.
