Reading pundit Tim Dellor has called for boss Paul Ince to mix-up his tactics after four defeats in five matches.

The Royals lost 1-0 on Saturday to Millwall, without having a shot on target and a total of 0.07 xG.

This now means the club have had three shots on target in the last three matches combined- all of which came in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

Reading travel to Ince's former club Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, with Dellor calling for a change of tact from the former England international.

"Every time Joe Lumley, the goalkeeper, gets it he is going long to Andy Carroll. Andy Carroll wins his fair share but he gets a right old clattering during 90 minutes and he’s a better player than that," Dellor said on the BBC Berkshire podcast. "If you get the ball in to his feet, he can make a few things happen but if you get the ball to his head, the best he can do is get a flick on and I’m not sure they have the power or the pace around him to jump on those scraps. In fact, I’m sure they haven’t.

"How many times have they played long to Andy Carroll in the last four or five games, how many headers did Andy Carroll win and how many shots have Reading had on target? It’s not working. They don’t mix it up at all so it’s predictable and not creating any chances at all."
