Former Reading captain Ady Williams believes the club 'is in a bit of a mess' after suffering a fourth defeat in five matches on Saturday.

Millwall scored an early penalty to beat the Royals 1-0, adding to the mounting pressure after a 5-0 defeat to Middlesbrough last weekend and a 1-0 loss to Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Paul Ince takes his side up to promotion-chasing Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, all with a possible six-point deduction hanging over the club for financial misdemeanours.

Speaking on BBC Berkshire after the defeat, Williams-with almost 400 club appearances in the 1990s and 2000s- is concerned for the future.

"I’m not worried about getting relegated no, but I am worried about the football club, yes. The bottom three, thankfully, keep getting beat- Wigan had no chance against Burnley, Blackpool earlier got beat at Bristol City. Am I worried? Yes. I think the football club at the moment is in a bit of a mess. Four defeats in five, three straight defeats, we’ve not had a shot on target, some of the substitutions need to be questioned and this six point deduction- is it imminent or isn’t it?

Reading Chronicle:

"We need the football club sorting out. At this moment in time I don’t think it’s a great place for Reading fans to go; they’re not enjoying it, they’re not getting value for money and we’re sliding down the table."

With 10 matches remaining, the Royals sit 16th in the table and still 12 points clear of relegation- a figure which will reduce to six if the reported deduction hits.
