Former Reading captain Chris Gunter has retired from international duty after 15 years.

The full-back was temporarily the highest-capped Wales international of all-time, until Gareth Bale overtook him during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Currently with AFC Wimbledon, the Cardiff City Academy graduate retired with a total of 109 caps, making his debut in May 2007.

A regular for Euro 2016, Euro 2020 and the World Cup 2022, he never managed to score a goal for his country.

Making a statement on social media, he said: "I've had the privilege of representing our great country for 15 years, and it's given me some of the best times of my career and my life."

Arriving in Berkshire in 2012, the right-back was at RG2 for eight years and made 314 appearances for the Royals.

Sliding down the EFL since, the 33-year-old had a two-year spell in League One with Charlton Athletic before moving to Plough Lane in the summer.
