Luke Southwood has been called up for Northern Ireland's Euro 2024 qualifiers against San Marino and Finland, Michael O'Neil's first since returning to the post of manager.

O'Neil took the country to the Euro 2016 knockout phase but had spent the last two-and-a-half years in the Championship with Stoke City.

Southwood, with 13 clean sheets on loan in League One with Cheltenham Town, made his debut in 2022 but has only appeared once for the country.

The Robins are battling relegation in the third tier, currently 17th and four points clear of the drop zone.

The 25-year-old has 30 Royal appearances to his name, impressing as first choice keeper during Veljko Paunovic's time in charge last season.

Not impressing current boss Paul Ince, Karl Hein and Orjan Nyland were number one's for the second half of last season.

Only three keepers have more clean sheets in League One this season than Southwood, while Reading have only kept six in total this campaign.
