Liam Moore could still play a part for Reading this season after undertaking a latest set of treatment, the Reading Chronicle understands.

Boss Paul Ince had previously stated that it was likely the club would not see the former captain again after suffering another setback.

Only two weeks ago the former England captain said: "He's had another setback, and I think that could be Liam Moore for the rest of the season, which is devastating news. We’re not sure what the injury is yet but it’s not looking good for him. If anyone has tried so hard to get back on the pitch, it’s him. I’ve never seen a professional football do anything and everything to get back and play for this football club. It’s sad news but hopefully he can let his body rest and go again next year."

However, in an interesting turn of events, the Reading Chronicle understands that the former Leicester City defender has had a new set of treatment and is already getting involved in aspects of training.

It is thought that the former captain, who was sent out on loan to Stoke City last year before suffering a career-threatening injury, is "desperate" to get back involved before the season is up.

Before his latest setback, the 30-year-old played 45 minutes for the Under-21s and was eyeing first-team involvement. There are just 13 fixtures remaining this season.

His contract is set to expire in the summer.
