Stevenage boss Steve Evans is concerned after on-loan Reading goalkeeper Jokull Andresson was forced off at half-time in yesterday's draw with Newport County.

The fourth tier promotion chasers, currently sat second in League One, were pegged back twice by the Welsh outfit in the bottom half of the table.

Clashing in mid-air, a challenge which went unpunished by the referee, the Icelander was brought off for Adam Przybek.

Arriving on loan in January, the former Exeter and Morecombe stopper has gone for a scan.

Evans, the larger-than-life, former Rotherham United and Leeds Unite boss, has confirmed that the Boro will dip into the transfer market to replace him.

Speaking after the match at Rodney Parade, he said: "He is going for a scan this morning. We had an X-ray done yesterday and we are waiting on the results.

"If it is a problem, we’ll go into the market. We’ve got permission from the Football League if he is going to be out.

"We’ll know soon.

"I’ve spoken to a couple of managers higher up than us and both have made goalkeeping options available to us.

"And before our fans get concerned, if [Jokull] has a problem, we will have announced something by tea-time."

The Hertfordshire-based side travel to Stockport County on Saturday.
