Reading defender Liam Moore looks set to miss the remainder of the season.

The 29-year-old, signed back in 2016, has made over 200 appearances for the Royals- however was cast aside and stripped of the captaincy under previous manager Veljko Paunovic.

Loaned out to Stoke City, the former Leicester City star suffered a career-threatening injury which kept him out until November.

Looking close to a first-team return, the former England Under-21 defender suffered setback after setback.

Playing for the Reading Under-21 side as recently as Friday, featuring for 45 minutes, it would appear that the latest setback is one too many for the controversial figure.

Out of contract in the summer, it is looking increasingly likely that the Jamaica international has played his last minutes for Reading- back in 2021.

Speaking after the 2-1 win over Rotherham United, boss Paul Ince said: "He's had another setback, and I think that could be Liam Moore for the rest of the season, which is devastating news. We’re not sure what the injury is yet but it’s not looking good for him. If anyone has tried so hard to get back on the pitch, it’s him. I’ve never seen a professional football do anything and everything to get back and play for this football club. It’s sad news but hopefully he can let his body rest and go again next year."
