Cardiff City Supporters Trust are going to be out with collection buckets ahead of Friday's clash with Reading in aid of former player Jason Bowen, who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Bowen, who was a Wales international, played 15 times for the Royals in the late 1990s but fell out with boss Tommy Burns.

Enjoying longer spells with Cardiff City, Swansea City and Newport County, he retired in 2013 with almost 600 career appearances to his name.

Over £11,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe page set up by his family, who are appealing for support with his ongoing treatment.

Members of the CCST will be outside the Cardiff City Stadium from 6pm for those who would like to make donations via collection buckets.

This has been endorsed by the Supporters Trust at Reading, the Royals equivalent, asking: "Fans that are travelling to the game on Friday please support an ex-Royal going through tough times."
