Nottingham Forest midfielder Tyrese Fornah has made it clear that he would like to make his loan deal at Reading a permanent one.

The 23-year-old, who spent time in the Academy with the Royals, has played 22 league matches in his first season as a Championship first-teamer.

On the books with the Tricky Trees, Steve Cooper has brought in record numbers of additions with the aim of preserving their Premier League status.

The Londoner, working under his idol Paul Ince, made his future intentions clear when speaking to the press ahead of the trip to Sunderland.

"I would love to if it was down to me," the former Shrewsbury Town loanee said. "I’d sign now. There’s a bigger picture and it’s between the two clubs, but I do hope my future is here long-term. We will see. I’m not thinking about it now, that’s for the summer."

A teammate of vice-captain Tom Holmes' when coming through the youth ranks, Fornah hopes the Royals supporters appreciate his efforts.

"I knew it was going to be a tough year when I first came, but probably didn’t realise how tough it would be. I’m glad I came to a wonderful club that I know well and hold close to my heart. I had the gaffer, the coaching staff and the boys who have looked after me from day one and it’s probably the same for a lot of the young players here. I can only speak for myself, but I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m going to go back to Forest a better player. Who knows where my future may be, but I really do hope that I showed the Reading fans how much I wanted to be here and I’m giving my all on the pitch."
