Reading top scorer Thomas Ince has turned down Premier League interest in order to stay in Berkshire, the Reading Chronicle understands.

Ince, who signed a three-year-deal in the summer, currently has six goals and three assists to his name- the most prolific in front of goal at the club.

A key outlet for his father's side, the former Derby County and Blackpool midfielder is in the best form of his recent career and already a fan favourite.

The Reading Chronicle understands that at least three current top-flight sides have lodged interest with the club, but 31-year-old Ince has made it clear he wants to remain in Berkshire.

Last playing in the Premier League for Huddersfield Town five years ago, the former England youth international has spent the vast majority of his career in the second tier.

The deadline closes as 11pm tonight, with Ince still hopeful of bringing in a midfielder.
