Linking up with the Pirates upon his release, he was a regular in his first season but fell out of favour with new boss Joey Barton.
The Finland international has played 10 times over the last two seasons, and not at all in the league this campaign.
Andy Yiadom- Reading
One of three players still in Berkshire, the full-back is now club captain.
He had a good chance that day at Old Trafford, stinging Sergio Romero's palms, and played 48 times in his debut season.
A regular ever-since, injury permitting, the popular figure signed a new deal over the summer to commit his future at RG2.
Tiago Ilori- Pacos Ferreria
Reading's club signing upon his arrival in 2017, the central defender was a regular under Jaap Stam.
Departing in 2019 with 64 appearances to his name, he's played just 23 times for Sporting since his return, including being sent out on loan twice.
Approaching 30, his time in Berkshire is the most he has played for one club.
Liam Moore- Reading
A 'marmite' figure at Reading, the centre-half has over 200 club appearances to his name.
Stripped of the captaincy under Veljko Paunovic, the Leciester City youngster was farmed out on loan to Stoke City, where he sustained a serious injury.
Yet to play a match for over a calendar year, it is thought that the 29-year-old could still play a part this season.
Omar Richards- Nottingham Forest
The Academy graduate worked his way up to becoming one of the best full-back's in the league by the time he left in 2021, joining European giants Bayern Munich.
Appearing 17 times and winning the Bundesliga, newly-promoted Nottingham Forest paid over eight million euros for the 24-year-old.
Breaking his leg in pre-season, the left-back is yet to feature for the Tricky Trees.
Andy Rinomhota- Cardiff City
The 2018/19 Player of the Season, Rinomhota was a popular figure at the club having broken through the youth ranks.
Playing a total of 139 times, the 25-year-old moved to the Welsh capital over the summer after his deal expired.
Now a key part of plans in South Wales, the Leeds-born midfielder has featured 26 times so far.
Liam Kelly- Rochdale
A midfielder tipped for big things when breaking through under Jaap Stam, the diminutive stature held within a glorious range of passing and ability to dictate matches.
Leaving to join Dutch side Feyenoord in 2019, his trip abroad did not work and he returned with Oxford United.
He is now 27 and with League Two Rochdale.
Callum Harriott- Gillingham
A tricky winger who was signed from Charlton Athletic, injury hampered his three year stint in Berkshire.
He enjoyed a successful spell with Colchester United before spending time out of the game.
Recently moving to struggling Gills, he is back playing football and wowing crowds in League Two.
John Swift- West Brom
Reading's key creative outlet for over five years, Swift was the fulcrum of many an attack in his time in Berkshire.
Enjoying his best season last time out, scoring 11 goals, the former Chelsea youth product was on every side's wanted list.
Moving on in the summer after more than 200 games, he is now with Championship high-fliers West Brom.
Garath McCleary- Wycombe Wanderers
Joining in 2012, McCleary spent eight years ‘making Messi look s****’ for Reading.
Leaving in 2020 after his contract had expired, having notched up nearly 300 appearances, he joined near-neighbours Wycombe.
A fan favourite at Adams Park, he has hit a century of appearances under Gareth Ainsworth.
Danny Loader
Another Academy graduate who started at Old Trafford, the 22-year-old played less than 30 times for his boyhood club before moving onto to European outfit Porto.
Biding his time in the B team, he is now a regular in Portugal, picking up almost 20 appearances this season- including in the Champions League.
A World Cup winner with England, at Under-17 level, the future is bright for Namaso.
