Rachel Williams broke Reading hearts as she came off the bench to score a fine late winner as Manchester United moved to the top of table with a 1-0 win.

A record crowd of over 500, including a healthy contigent supporting the Red Devils, witnessed a gutsy performance on Kelly Chambers' 150th match in charge.

Katie Zelem missed the chance to put United ahead when her 40th-minute penalty was saved by Jacqueline Burns and moments later Nikita Parris saw an effort rattle the crossbar, but United finally got the breakthrough in the 87th minute when Williams found the top corner from near the penalty spot, sending her side top ahead of Chelsea on goal difference.

The Royals remain 10th, four points clear of the bottom side Leicester City.

Reading travel to Liverpool on Sunday, February 5, the side immediately above them in the WSL table.
