Reading fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat to Stoke City.

Here are the player ratings.

Joe Lumley, 5: After a few weeks of stand-out performances, his trip to Staffordshire was not one of his best. Ultimately not a great deal he could have done with the goals conceded, with nasty deflections and close-range efforts, but his kicking was poor.

Reading Chronicle:

Junior Hoilett, 5: Rather anonymous for most of the game as the Royals were defending. Struggled more so in the first half, with plenty of attacks coming on his side.

Andy Yiadom, 5: At fault for the first goal, dilly-dallying on the ball and being tackled, but had a few runs up the field where he tried to make things happen.

Tom Holmes, 4: Put Yiadom under pressure with a poor pass for the first goal, deflected a shot past Lumley for the second goal and failed to cut out the cross for the third. Disappointing afternoon for the vice-captain.

Tom McIntyre, 4: Similar to Holmes, it was a poor day for the Academy graduate. Lost his marker for the third goal as Jacob Brown bundled a cross into the net.

Reading Chronicle:

Baba, 4: A very poor first half from the wing-back, either losing possession in dangerous areas or taking his eye off the ball. Had a better second half, but was still below-par.

Mamadou Loum, 5: Similar to Baba, appeared to struggled to pick up the pace of the game. Had occasions where he threw his body on the line to block the shot, but passing was slack throughout.

Jeff Hendrick, 5: Was busy and kept the game ticking over. Tried to make things happen but was very little in the way of attacks.

Reading Chronicle:

Tyrese Fornah, 6: A solid return to action for the youngster, the real bright spark on the pitch. Loving to drive forward, if anything happened it was through him.

Tom Ince, 4: The best player of the season so far, the key creator went off the boil. Subject to hostility from the home crowd, he constantly tried to quieten them, but it did not work. An off day.

Yakou Meite, 5: Saw very little of the ball bar one strike on target and a soft header off target. Not the day to be a striker.

Reading Chronicle:

Substitutes

Shane Long, 5: Kept the game neat and saw one chance late on whuch he fluffed.

Lucas Joao, 5: Linked up well with the midfielders, the striker was never given the chance to shoot.

Femi Azeez, 5: Looked bright but did not have much to do, the game was over by the time he came on the pitch.

Nesta Guinness-Walker, 5: Came on with 20 minutes to go and had little to do.

Scott Dann, 5: Had one scary moment where the ball was played over his head and Lumley had to head the ball away from danger. Had little else to do with the game over.
