Supporters Trust at Reading [STAR] have released a passionate letter regarding the club's upcoming FA Cup tie against giants Manchester United.

At £46 per ticket and an 8pm kick-off time on Saturday, January 28, many Royals fans have been put off making the long trip to Old Trafford for a fixture being shown live on ITV4.

An allocation of 3,094 tickets go on sale from tomorrow, and STAR will be running coaches for their members, but have made their position perfectly clear.

Releasing a statement on Friday, they made points on their 'dismay' at 'both the kick-off time and prices.'

For instance, the letter reads: "At present, the last train back to Reading from Manchester is 9.25pm, meaning a return journey on the same day is only possible if our fans are prepared to miss most of the second half of the match itself!"

Summing up, the group said: "All in all, the two decisions leave a very bitter taste. We know that our fans will travel in numbers but we believe that, with a more sensible kickoff time and pricing structure in place, we could take many more.

"We fully understand that money talks in the modern game, but that doesn't make it right. Fans at matches are the lifeblood of any club and this needs to be remembered."
