David Meyler
Not best known for his stint in Berkshire, the Repulbic of Ireland midfielder played almost 200 times in six years with Hull City, playing just five for the Royals before his two-year deal was cut short a year early.
Mark Bowen
Playing once for the club in the Football League Trophy, the Welsh international's best time was spent in Norfolk with Norwich City- featuring almost 400 times.
However, having joined as Technical Consultant in 2019, before becoming first team manager that same season, the full-back returned in pre-season to assist Paul Ince as Head of Football Operations.
Jaap Stam
Another whose time in Berkshire came off-field, legendary Dutch centre-half Stam became manager in 2016.
Enjoying almost instant success with a brand not seen in RG2, the former Manchester United and AC Milan star took the Royals to within one penalty of the Premier League, before being sacked the following season with the club fighting relegation.
Zat Knight
Hardly synonomous with Reading, Knight was a former England international a decade before his stint in Berkshire.
An established Premier League defender with Fulham, Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers, he was 35 when he played twice for the club under Steve Clarke in 2015 before his release and subsequent retirement.
Tom Ince
Still very much playing, Ince has been a standout for the club this season under his dad.
Four goals and three assists so far, the former Blackpool and Derby County winger is crucial to the team and is already a fan favourite in his near 12 months with the club.
