Reading head into the World Cup break with a trip up to East Yorkshire to face Hull City at a ground they have never won at.

Here are six players who played for both in the last 20 years.

Paul McShane

A product of the Manchester United Academy, the central defender moved on to West Brom without making an appearance.

A season long spell at the Hawthorns was followed by two at Sunderland, before finding somewhere to call home at the KC Stadium.

Six years, and almost 150 appearances later, he left having taken the club to an FA Cup Final and into Europe, before departing upon the expiration of his contract in 2015.

A regular in Berkshire for three of his four seasons, he was club captain for most of them and featured in an FA Cup quarter-final.

He left in 2019, spending two years with Rochdale, before moving back to Old Trafford to help with the Under-23 side.

Liam Rosenior

A Premier League regular with Fulham, Steve Coppell signed the full-back in 2007.

Playing almost 70 times in three seasons, Hull City picked him up in 2010 and he remained there for five years, playing over 150 times.

He retired in 2018 after helping Brighton into the Premier League, before stepping into coaching.

A role in Philip Cocu's backroom staff at Derby County eventually saw him take the reigns in 2022, losing his job last month when they opted for Paul Warne.

Last week Hull appointed the former defender, who will be in charge tomorrow.

Reading Chronicle:

Stephen Quinn

An energetic midfielder, he was a fan favourite over seven years at Sheffield United, playing nearly 250 appearances.

Moving up a division in 2012, he played over 100 times for Hull City as they won promotion to the Premier League and reached an FA Cup Final in his stint.

Signed by Reading in 2015, injuries hampered his stay and he played just 34 times in three years.

Still playing at 36, he is with League Two Mansfield Town.

Reading Chronicle:

Shane Long

A former teammate of Rosenior at Reading and Hull, the veteran striker made his name in six years with Reading before West Brom spent almost £5,000,000 on the Irishman.

He joined Hull in January 2014 and scored four goals in 17 appearances before a move that summer to Southampton, where he spejnt eight years and made almost 250 appearances.

Famously he returned after a decade away this summer, scoring once so far under Paul Ince

Sone Aluko

Having impressed in spells in Scotland, Hull City brought him south of the border in 2012.

Four years in East Yorkshire was followed by a year in West London before Reading paid Fulham £7,500,000 to take him to the Madejski Stadium.

The attacker never fulfilled his potential in his 100 appearances for Reading, joining Ipswich Town upon his release in 2021.

David Meyler

Another Ireland international, Hull are the only club the midfielder had played more than 30 times for.

Five years in Sunderland yielded just 35 appearances but the following six years at the KC Stadium saw him make over 150.

He moved down to Reading on a free transfer in 2018 and played just five times, before his three-year contract was terminated two years early.

He retired a year later aged 30.
