With Burnley spending the last six years in the Premier League, it has been over half a decade since the last meeting between the two sides.

Remaining unbeaten against the title-winning Clarets in 2016, the Royals won 2-1 at Turf Moor in September 2015.

Two goals in the first 10 minutes, through Nick Blackman and Lucas Piazon, put Steve Clarke's side in dreamland.

Tendayi Darikwa pulled one back in the second half, but the Royals clung on to rise to third in the Championship after a strong start.

But where are those players now?

Jonathan Bond- LA Galaxy

The Watford Academy graduate had moved to Berkshire in the summer of 2015, and started with the number one jersey.

After a string of costly errors, the England Under-21 goalie was dropped and replaced by veteran Ali Al-habsi, who retained the first place spot for the next two seasons.

Bouncing around the Football League, he has become a regular in the MLS since 2021.

Reading Chronicle:

Chris Gunter- AFC Wimbledon

The highest-capped Welsh international of all-time, the right back was in his third season with the club and had cemented right-back as his own.

After five more years and over 300 appearances, he moved to Charlton Athletic in 2020.

Two years in South London followed, before a switch to Plough Lane this summer with former teammate Alex Pearce.

Reading Chronicle:

Paul McShane- Manchester United U23

Captain of the side for much of the 2015/16 season, the Republic of ireland international had only joined the month previously.

Over 100 appearnaces in blue and white followed, before a stint at Rochdale.

Signed by the Red Devils to help the developement of youth players, he's now back where it had started in 2002.

Reading Chronicle:

Michael Hector- Unattached

The youth product was on loan from Chelsea for the 2015/16 season, having joined the West London club from Reading in the summer.

A regular under Steve Clarke, the defender was instrumental in the run to the FA Cup semi final and quarter-final in successive years.

Not working out at Stamford Brdige, he has had short stints with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Hull, winning the Championship with Fulham last year.

A target of Paul Ince this year, a move was unable to be sorted and he is currently training with Luton Town.

Reading Chronicle:

Jordan Obita- Wycombe Wanderers

Another Academy graduate, the popular winger-turned-defender would make over 180 appearances for the Royals in a decade with the first team.

Staying until 2020, Gareth Ainsworth picked him up at Wycombe Wanderers where he has become a fan favourite and ma\de over 60 appearances in two seasons.

Reading Chronicle:

Oliver Norwood- Sheffield United

Ollie Norwood arrived in 2014 and his passing style was something the side craved. A stylish player with an eye for a stunning strike, he left at the end of the 2015/16 season before winning promotion with Brighton, Fulham and Sheffield United.

Still with the Blades, he’s made over 200 appearances in the Steel City, proving to be one of the best midfielders in the division.

Danny Williams- Retired

With energy to burn, the USA international was a fan favourite from his arrival in 2013.

A key member of teams to reach the FA Cup semi-final and Championship play-off final, it ended in heartache as he opted to join play-off opponents Huddersfield Town in 2017.

Injuries scuppered his spell in South Yorkshire, and a spell in Cyprus was to mark the end of his playing days to focus on his fashion label.

Lucas Piazon- Botafogo

A pantomime villain for Reading fans after his antics after scoring for Fulham at the SCL Stadium, the Brazil international spent the 2015/16 season on loan in Berkshire, scoring his first goal for the club at Turf Moor.

Unpredictable, the winger never really settled and has enjoyed a journeyman career from London to Portugal and back to his homeland Brazil.

Reading Chronicle:

Garath McCleary- Wycombe Wanderers

Signing at the same time as good friend Gunter, McCleary played over 250 times for the Royals from 2012-2020.

Netting five times this season, the Jamaica international was to enjoy an even better following season, scoring nine times, before injuries and off-field issues got in the way.

Now with Obita at Wycombe, he appears to be back to his old self, bamboozling full-backs and chipping in with goals.

Nick Blackman- Maccabi Tel-Aviv

For one half of a season, Blackman turned into the Championship’s Lionel Messi as he set the league alight. Scoring 13 in 28 matches in all competitions during 2015/16, Derby County forked out more than £2,000,000 to take the talisman to Pride Park, only for him to score one in the next two seasons.

Going from strength to strength since leaving the East Midlands, he’s scored in Europe and has made himself a regular for his country.

Reading Chronicle:

Hal Robson-Kanu- Unattached

A Championship title-winner with the club in 2012, Robson-Kanu was a regular in Berkshire for almost a decade.

Leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, after standout performances for Wales at Euro 2016, he became a prominent player for West Brom before leaving in 2021 and focusing on non-football businesses off the field.
