Reading notched two goals in the second half to return to winning ways and beat Bristol City.

Here are the player ratings.

Reading Chronicle:

Joe Lumley: 6- Had very little to do in the way of shot-stopping but did everything he had to do. Distribution solid and his antics with the away fans again cements him as a fan favourite.

Junior Hoilett: 6- Again out of position and again didn't put a foot wrong. Saw less of his attacking qualities against the Robins, but a very comfortable afternoon. Was targeted by Bristol City defensively late on and subbed off.

Amadou Mbengue: 8- Imperious at the back, the youngster won everything. Originally signed as a wing-back, the Senegal youth international look accomplished in the more central role. Made a goal-saving tackel in the closing stages.

Tom Holmes: 7- A quiet first half defensively, Nigel Pearson's team bombarded the Royals box as the game wore on, but the captain stood firm and repelled any sniff of a chance.

Reading Chronicle:

Tom McIntyre: 7- Similar to Holmes, Chris Martin and Andreas Weimann added much-needed attacking quality to Bristol City's forward line, but the fan favourite stood firm and put in a strong performance.

Baba Rahman: 6- A quiet first half with most of the play going through the middle, the Ghana international was an outlet for the second period and was comfortable going forwards and backwards.

Mamadou Loum: 7- Shaky start but grew into the game. Very strong at winning the ball back, sometimes spends too long on the ball before passing. Took his goal very well and remained sharp when seeing the game out.

Jeff Hendrick: 8- A slow start, he continued to run and try to make things happen. He came into his own in the second half where he drove the team forward and looked to create chances. Best performance in a Reading shirt.

Reading Chronicle:

Tom Ince: 7- Another classic Ince performance, running hard and trying to make things happen. A great corner for Loum's goal. Should have scored late on to seal the game.

Lucas Joao: 6- A solid performance from the striker, who pressed and held the ball up well. Failed to have an impact in front of goal, but his all-round game was of a good standard. Should have scored early on with a header.

Yakou Meite: 6- Similar to Joao, did all the dirty work expected of a striker but had little impact in front of goal.

Substitutes

Shane Long: 7- Brilliant cameo from the fan favourite, he brought a lift to help see the game out. His role in the second goal is the epitome of a Long performance.

Andy Carroll: 7- Similar to Long, the 33-year-old brought some know-how and quality to earn the win. Took his goal very well in stoppage time.

Nelson Abbey: 6- Championship debut for the Academy star and he didn't put a foot wrong. Came on as some added muscle at the end and did his reputation no harm.
