Reading threw away a two goal lead and lost 3-2 to Swansea City last night.

A bogey team for the Royals (no mention of play-off finals, here) the Swans have lost just once in over a decade- last season's 3-2 win being the first win since 2008 over the Welsh outfit.

Here are three things you may have missed from the disappointing evening in South Wales.

Average team age

At 6.45pm, the team news dropped and there was a tingle of excitement among the supporters as manager Paul Ince was able to name a full 18-man squad of recognised first team players.

The average age of 26.9 was the second youngest starting 11 of the season, however the overall squad is the oldest named this campaign.

Five, of the eight on the bench, were 28 or over, with just Ovie Ejaria and Nesta Guinness-Walker under 25.

Compare that to the starting side, only four were over 28 years old.

In comparison to the opening day defeat to Blackpool, the bench had just Shane Long and Dean Bouzanis above 20 years old.

Debut kit

The club's new third kit was worn for the first time against Swansea- making for very constrasting kits.

For the first time in more than five years that the Royals will have a third option of a kit on matchday, this Macron product continues along the theme of helping the planet.

Both home and away shirts caught the eye with Reading University's 'climate stripes' which represented the increasing temperatures in the town since the club's formation 151 years ago.

Despite not showcasing those on the alternative kit, it is made 100 per cent of recycled plastic bottles.

Lights out

The stage was set and the ball had just began to roll before the Swansea.com Stadium was plunged into semi-darkness.

Out for a total of six minutes, supporters attempted to help by using phone lights and singing 'we'll play in the dark.'

Playing among themselves with balls to keepo themsleves warm, looking back now it would have been better if the lights had stayed out!
