As September starts to roll into October- it can only mean two things.
Back to school, and the new FIFA game in the franchise is nearly out.
Set to be the last one under its current guise, the iconic game will be on many a child's Christmas and birthday list.
Last season, Reading had zero gold players, with John Swift and Baba Rahman both the highest rated at 74.
Below we take a look at the current squad, and whether they will get an increase, or decrease, on last campaign.
Joe Lumley- 67- Increase
Last season, while at Middlesbrough, Lumley had a rating of just 67.
Despite shipping four on two ocassions already this season, the on-loan stopper has proved his worth in more than one match this year.
An increase by one or two would be a more realistic figure for a solid Championship goalie.
Andy Yiadom- 73- Same
One of the club's most consistent performers of recent years, the captain is deservedly one of the highest rated players.
However, he was a key component of a defence which shipped a league high 87 goals last season and isn't getting any younger.
Baba Rahman- 74- Down
Joining for his second loan stint in Berkshire, the Ghana left-back was a promising 21-year-old when arriving at Chelsea.
Always likely to have favourable marks due to being on the books of a Premier League giant, he is no better than his international teammate on the opposite flank and so a matching mark is more accurate.
Ovie Ejaria- 73- Down
An enigma to watch, there is no deny that the midfielder is one of the best individual talents on his day.
However, last season he contributed just two goals- both in the same match- and zero assists.
It is hard to justify one of the highest ratings in the team to someone who had such a quiet campaign last time out.
Lucas Joao- 73- Same
Injured for most of the season, the Angola international still managed to bag double figures to back up his 20+ campaign from the year before.
Although his work ethic has come into question this season, his quality cannot be questioned and therefore his rating should not come down.
Scott Dann- 73- Down
Hamstrung with injuries for what will be almost a calendar year by the time he is back, his rating will have to be demoted.
A leader and competent defender when fit, 18 matches in over a year is a poor return.
Yakou Meite- 72- Same
Consistently one of the most underrated players at Reading- his injury record is all that is holding him back.
Three straight seasons of double figures was followed by a goalless one last time out, in which he missed virtually the entire campaign.
Still doing enough to earn his current score, it cannot be pushed up until he gets on the pitch more frequently.
Junior Hoilett- 72- Same
Jack of all trades, the Canada international has been doing a sterling job as a wing-back for Paul Ince this season, an unnatural position for the orthodox winger.
Notching three goals last season, and already with one this year, it is hard to justify an increase in scores for a 32-year-old, but he certainly deserves to keep his solid silver rating.
Liam Moore- 71- Down
The former captain has had a torrid time in the last 18 months or so, being stripped of the captaincy, failing to impress on loan at Stoke City and suffering an injury which will keep him out for months.
The stock has never been lower for the former fan favourite, and a reduction in score should reflect this.
Tom McIntyre- 69- Increase
The Academy graduate has made a first team spot his own as he quickly approaches 75 matches for his boyhood club.
Proving his worth, in front of both goals, over the past two seasons, a move into the 70s would be a reward for his efforts.
Tom Holmes- 67- Increase
Similar to McIntyre, he is now one of the first names on the team sheet in a defensive capacity.
Given more responsibility off field with the vice-captaincy, a move into the 70s is the least Holmes deserves.
Tom Ince- 68- Increase
Far and away the current Player of the Season for the Royals, he's a man rejuvenated under his father.
Most definitely worth a 70 upgrade.
Dean Bouzanis- 63- Increase
A worthy back up keeper, he is experienced and controls his backline.
Only thing to hold the score back could be age and his lack of game time at second tier level, but impressed when played.
Shane Long- 72- Decrease
A 35-year-old with five goals in the last three years is doing well to keep a 72 rating.
Warrants staying 70+ for sure, but age seems to count for a lot on FIFA.
Sam Hutchinson- 68- Same
A very solid rating for a very solid defender.
At 33 he is unlikely to see 70+ again, but high 60s is good enough for Championship level.
Nesta Guinness-Walker- 63- Increase
Shaky in his first couple of appearances, the young left-back has proved himself to be a very adequate option in the second tier.
Still young too, a 65 rating would give sufficient potential and current scores.
Naby Sarr- 68- Increase
A consistently high performer in the Championship over recent seasons, a 70 rating would be more accurate.
Andy Carroll- 71- Same
Attributes such as aeriel dominance and personality do not diminish with age, meaning Carroll should not lose too much of his 70+ rating, especially if he can chip in with the ocassional goal.
Amadou Mbengue- 60- Same
Difficult to judge after a brief cameo, those who have seen him in Frace appear impressed.
One to keep an eye on.
Femi Azeez- 64- Increase
A revelation at the start of last season, the direct winger has endured a stop-start last 12 months.
However, a bronze card of 64 is very much undervaluing the Academy star- who deserves to move into the 65+ category.
Dejan Tetek- 62- Same
A regular under compatriot Veljko Paunovic, the youngster has failed to muscle in under Paul Ince, making it very difficult to argue that his current rating can be improved upon.
Coniah Boyce-Clarke- 59- Same
Yet to make a Championship appearance, the highly rated youngster still has a way to go to force his way into Paul Ince’s plans.
A Football league loan move surely has to be on the horizon for the 19-year-old.
Nelson Abbey- 57- Same
Impossible to judge off of two Cup appearances, the centre-back is approaching 60 with a potential of 76; not a bad rating for someone yet to make their league debut.
Mamadi Camara- 57- Increase
Another to feature semi-regularly under Veljko Paunovic, the midfielder looked a cut above the rest of the youngsters in the Carabao Cup defeat to Stevenage earlier in the season.
Impressing in cameos last campaign, the Guinea-Bissau international must be approaching a 60 rating.
Jahmari Clarke- 56- Increase
Already with two Championship goals to his name in a special comeback against Birmingham City, the striker has featured less under Paul Ince but is still a name being banded around as one to keep an eye on.
An increase to nearer 60 would be sufficient.
Kian Leavy- 55- Same
A regular in Cup fixtures, it is hard to judge overall ratings without playing a league match.
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan- 54- Increase
Someone who now seems to be the go-to Academy striker, usurping Clarke who had the role under Veljko Paunovic, Ehibhatiomhan netted his first professional goal earlier in the campaign and deserves to have an increased rating on a previously untested striker in FIFA 22.
