Tom Ince's second half free-kick earned an away win over Wigan Athletic to bounce back from midweek defeat to Sunderland.

Here are the player ratings.

Joe Lumley- 6: Clean sheet and solid display from the loan keeper. His distribution was excellent, particularly in the first half.

Junior Hoilett- 6: Very good first half performance, quieter in the second half but still an outlet. The winger continues to impress out of position.

Andy Yiadom- 7: Came under immense pressure with most of the direct balls aimed toward him, the shortest defender in the back-line. Rallied the team well as captain.

Tom Holmes- 6: Accomplished performanced from the vice-captain. Did his job and kept a clean sheet.

Reading Chronicle:

Tom McIntyre- 6: Did nothing extravagent but did everything asked of him. Much stronger in the centre than playing out wide.

Baba Rahman- 6: Good to get a start under his belt, there is no doubting the energy he brings. Slightly concerning is his defensive brain, which sometimes left his centre-backs short when marking.

Sam Hutchinson- 6: A more advanced role than midweek and played well, protecting the back five.

Jeff Hendrick- 6: Much better performance than in midweek, his use of the ball really made an impact. Should have scored in the first half, his third big miss of the season.

Tyrese Fornah- 6: The energy in the middle, Fornah looked the drive where possible but was less effective than he had been last month.

Reading Chronicle:

Tom Ince- 7: As always, full of running. Relatively ineffective during the first half but got on the ball more as the game wore on and impacted the game. Scored a sublime free-kick but should have had a brace with a header.

Lucas Joao- 5: Better than he was on Wednesday but still did not do enough to keep hold of the ball, particularly in the first half. Improved after the break but below par.

Substitutes

Yakou Meite- 6: More energy and a willing runner up front. Needed to score his one-v-one to kill the game.

Mamadou Loum- 6: Kept the ball ticking over in the final 15 minutes but did little to change the game, which he didn't need to do when coming on to protect a lead.
